The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop in a company committed to developing talent and rewarding performance.Role PurposeThe role of Lead Mechanical Engineer will have you planning, managing and coordinating all of the engineering and commissioning activities on the project/s. To oversee the process’s for design management, commissioning and project engineering ensuring consistent application of agreed procedures and utilisation of standard forms. The role also requires the ongoing mentoring of all engineering personnel on the project to ensure their continued development.Lead Mechanical Engineer ResponsibilitiesGeneralEnsure the design management process is followed by either taking on the role directly or appointing an individual responsible for this role.Ensure the Commissioning process is followed by either taking on the role directly or appointing an individual responsible for this role.EHSRead and understand EHS Plan.ProcurementManaging and Assisting with Producing RFQ’s packs for materials and equipmentProvided technical reviews on quotations or tendersPreparation of scope of work document for subcontract packageAssist BUL (Business Unit Lead) in resolving any significant technical issues that cannot be resolved on site.Assisting with technical advice for the negotiation of packages or variations with vendors/subcontractors.QualityPreparation/Understanding of project ITP.Develop a CTQ matrix for the project.Assist the Cx Lead with developing and agreeing the testing protocol’s for FAT’s, leading and recording FAT’s.Develop & maintain system list and tracker.Co-ordinate the definition of system boundaries.Developing FOK register and managing FOK completion and signoff.Delivery of Project Test packs.Lead system walk-downs. Understanding of the walkdown schedule. Track Closure of snags and advise team on progress.Receipt verification (RV) of equipment and materials arriving on site.Develop LEED or applicable authority approvals plan in line with the project requirements.Ensure O&Ms are produced in line with the specification and agreed program.PlanningReview and understand how a project schedule, millstone dates and sequence.Development of ROJ dates and understanding the capital plant delivery requirements.Develop and keeping the procurement and technical submittal schedule/tracker updated.EngineeringComplete technical/design review of system/project and record familirisation notes.Equipment technical review and selections. Managing of long lead equipment.Develop Equipment schedule’s complete with the appropriate tag references.Ensure all controls and instrumentation devices are accounted for and considered in the fabrication drawings.Develop, track and manage design responsibility matrix.Develop, track and maintain the change / design deviation log.Validate the design using the RFI process.Identify and evaluate value engineering or cost saving opportunities from a technical perspective.Develop schematic’s when gaps exist in the design.Review the BIM model and coordinated drawings to ensure it is compliance with the P&ID’s, schematics and project specifications.Red line P&I’s and schematics with any changes from the design intent.Development of ISOs, weld logs, ensuring welding procedures and welder qualifications are accounted for.Development and track production of Technical Submittals.Managing and/or carrying out the stress analysis, bracketry design and anchor selections.Verify system pressures and duct sizing. Carrying out ESP calculations and verification of equipment sizing/selections.Verify system pressures and pipe sizing. Carrying out hydraulic calculations and verification of equipment sizing/selections.Attend regular workshops with vendors, GC, consultant, client where technical issues are discussed and agreed.Identify and present Value Engineering items.Collation of Engineering Lessons Learned on Projects for future use.Testing and CommissioningConducting a commissionability review on systemsManagement of the testing activities as per Kirby QMS processes. i.e. duct leakage tests, pipe pressure tests.Management of flushing and balancing activities as per Kirby QMS processes.Understanding of client commissioning process and review of the client/project commissioning plan.Assist with development of Kirby commissioning plan and implementation of same.Assist with the development of testing protocols/scripts, co-ordinate, record and witness the execution of SAT’s. i.e. Level 2 and 3 tests.Assist with management of equipment vendors and specialist commissioning contactors when on site.Assist with the close out of commissioning snags.Witness and verify commissioning activities and ensure certification is fully complete and aligned with the specification.Develop, plan and undertake client training as required.CommunicationsEnsure weekly reports and trackers are developed and issued as agreed with the PM.Highlight any risks that arise to the PM/Engineering Lead and populate monthly Risk Log/Register.CommercialUnderstand the commercial fundamentals of a project including scope of works, variation logs and take offs’ etc.Advise the QS and PM of any potential cost impacts to the project on an ongoing basis.HRMentor Junior Engineers and assist in their development.Assist in the development and delivery of CPDsAttend CPD workshops and events.Necessary requirements of the Lead Mechanical Engineer3rd level qualification in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services EngineeringIdeally the Lead Mechanical Engineer will possess 10+ years relevant experience of which 3+ years has been spent in a Lead / Managerial role.Data Centre and or Pharmaceutical design experience will be advantageousExcellent communicator/strong interpersonal skills/communicates with impactExcellent record keeper and administration skillsDrives for resultsLeads and influences others.Innovates and leads in mechanical/technical activity and challenges.Plans and effectively manages projects.Solve problems analytically and acts decisivelyMentor and Coach to junior engineers and graduatesFor more information on this Lead Mechanical Engineer/ Mechanical Engineering Lead position or other Mechanical Engineering Lead / Engineering Manager opportunities based in Ireland the UK or Europe contact Kirby Group Talent Acquisitions Team confidentially on +353 (0) or apply in confidence.#J-18808-Ljbffr
