We also offer relocation support.PurposeThe Outside Europe A (OEU-A) Division deals with the legal documentation and legal issues for projects in the following countries: Neighbourhood Countries (South), Saharan and Sub‑Saharan Africa, Caribbean, Pacific, Asia, Latin America.The purpose of this position is to provide legal advice and support, relating to tasks within the Division's remit, focusing on lending (sovereign/bank/corporate), guarantee transactions (including guarantees and risk sharing facilities for banks and corporates), grants and post‑signature work, in relation to the EIB projects.In this role your work will involve activities of various complexity and recurring (e.g. advise on standard loan agreements) as well as non‑standard nature (e.g. research in connection with new products; advise on more complex structured finance, proposing and discussing with the hierarchy highly sophisticated and complex legal matters).AccountabilitiesManage contacts and negotiations concerning the EIB operations handled by the Division, working with documents subject to numerous jurisdictions and with counterparts in various countries and with internal counterparts in several different areas of the Bank (mainly front office)Draft documents, provide advisory legal support, finalise contracts, complete all related legal formalities and legal monitoring (including post‑signature events)Understand and implement in contractual documentation the specificities arising from the various mandates underpinning the Division’s activitiesContribute to the development and implementation of grant documentation and other blending related activitiesContribute to the development of standard legal documentation within the Division’s areas of activity, notably outside of the EU specific documentationWork with other team members, including more junior colleagues and paralegals, providing coaching to the extent applicableParticipate in horizontal activities of relevance to the DivisionLiaise with external consultants and supervise their workConduct legal research on legal matters and developments of significance to the Division’s interestsProactively keep up to date with legal developments in legislation, regulations and jurisprudence pertaining to the Division’s activitiesDevelop and maintain relationships within the Bank (including external offices) and represent the EIB externallyQualificationsUniversity degree in law (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor and preferably at Master level), preferably obtained in civil law country (a law degree in Spain would be an advantage).Legal qualification, ideally in a civil law jurisdiction, would be an advantage.Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field of lending and finance, preferably acquired with a law firm of international repute or the in‑house legal department of a financial institution.Significant experience in the drafting and negotiation of loan and finance documentation in English and Spanish is required.Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Spanish is required.
