Deadlines & Availability Deadline: December 17th 2025, 12:00 (noon – CET)Positions available: 1 Research Objectives Reinforcement learning (RL) as an approximated optimal control problem, exploring how differential geometry can provide a unifying framework for RL; RL as latent geodesic flows, where stochastic Riemannian metrics estimated from generative models guide or bias policy optimisation paths; Leveraging the Riemannian geometry of the Wasserstein space for more stable and efficient policy optimisation; Exploiting contact Hamiltonian dynamics and its link to optimal control geodesics to design novel, interpretable RL algorithms. Applications of the developed methods in controlling physical systems such as robots or quadrotors, and in fine‑tuning foundational models. Requirements Must have skills Excellent master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical/mechatronics engineering, or a related field; Strong background in machine learning and robotics; Good programming skills in Python; Fluent in spoken and written English; Team‑player yet able to work autonomously; Experience with scientific writing. Good to have skills Background in applied differential geometry; Peer‑reviewed research publications.
