MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Engineer

OverviewThe MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable BI solutions that support strategic decision-making across GEB. This role focuses on transforming complex data into actionable insights using the MicroStrategy BI tool, ensuring data accuracy, performance, and usability. The Engineer collaborates with business stakeholders, data governance specialists, and IT teams to deliver high-impact dashboards, reports, and analytics aligned with GEB’s data strategy.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop BI solutions using MicroStrategy, including dashboards, reports, and visualizations tailored to business needsTranslate business requirements into technical specifications and data modelsOptimize data queries and report performance across large datasetsEnsure data accuracy, consistency, and security in all BI deliverablesCollaborate with data governance and data warehouse teams to ensure alignment with metadata, lineage, and quality standardsMaintain and enhance semantic layers, cubes, and schema objects in MicroStrategySupport the integration of new data sources and ensure compatibility with existing BI architectureProvide technical support and training to business users on MicroStrategy tools and best practicesDocument BI processes, configurations, and data flows for audit and compliance purposesStay current with BI trends and MicroStrategy platform updates to recommend improvementsUndertake additional responsibilities and tasks reasonably aligned with the scope of this role, as required by evolving business needsRequirementsProven experience in MicroStrategy development, including schema and application objects, reports, dashboards, and dossiersExperience with MicroStrategy components such as Web, Developer and ObjectExposure on Regression Testing using MicroStrategy Integrity manager is a plusGood understanding on MicroStrategy Object and Data security layersStrong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehouse architectureProficiency in SQL and ability to optimize queries for performanceKnowledge of data governance principles, including metadata management and data lineageExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailStrong communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated technical affinity for data architecture and tooling, with proven ability to efficiently categorize, manage, and map data across complex environmentsExperience with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery cyclesTeam-oriented mindset with a proactive and collaborative approachMaster’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field4+ years of experience in BI engineering or data analytics roles, preferably in an international environmentCertification in MicroStrategy or other BI platforms is a plusPython knowledge is a plusExperience in employee benefits, reinsurance, or financial services data is an assetFamiliarity with data governance, compliance, and security best practicesFluent in English and French, any other language would be considered an assetWillingness to travel occasionally as required by business needsLocationThis is a permanent and full-time position, based in Assago (close to Milan, Italy).Company ProfileGEB is a global Employee Benefits platform that helps Multinational Corporates succeed by protecting and enhancing the physical, emotional & financial wellbeing of their human capital.
