WorkplaceThe Centre for Sustainable Energy (SE) supports the development of materials, devices and methods for generation, storage and distribution of energy solutions at low environmental impact.This is done in the perspective of energy sustainability, of systems and solutions that respect the environment and the quality of life. The ground for the Centre for Sustainable Energy is based on the decarbonization targets, which demand for more flexibility of energy systems, through new power and gas grids and through the use of energy vectors and storage solutions, as enablers for the wide penetration of renewables.Part of FBK-SE, the Area Sustainable Territories conducts R&I activities in the fields of regional and local energy transition, grid flexibility, energy communities, smart cities, clean mobility, building renovation and green industries, including interdisciplinary approaches among the energy, digital and social sectors. The Sustainable Territories projects and demonstrators involve energy planning, energy modeling, engineering, testing, monitoring & control, in synergy with various stakeholders such as political institutions, energy authorities, TSOs, DSOs, ESCOs, local communities, cooperation and social sectors, building and industrial companies.Job DescriptionThe position offered concerns the fields of energy flexibility, decarbonization and digitalization.The candidate will provide support to FBK-SE in European, national and local projects. The main contribution will be in the national research project “FLEXIA\" funded by the MASE call “Dati e digitalizzazione di rete - Mission Innovation 2.0”.FLEXIA aspires to support the aggregation of diverse Energy Management Systems (EMSs) with the aim of optimizing collaborative demand flexibility from industries in physical proximity. FLEXIA aims to overcome interoperability challenges, enhance EMS functionalities, and analyse the value of its flexibility solutions in a real-life environment. FLEXIA solutions will be analysed and supported in a dedicated Pilot Site in Storo (Province of Trento, Italy), in a collaboration between EMSs developers, DSO, industries and research centers (in the energy and digital fields), setting a cornerstone for future utilisation of aggregated industrial EMSs for local grid flexibility services.Job requirementsThe ideal candidate should have:MSc in Energy or Electric Engineering or equivalent technical discipline;Strong know-how on industrial energy flexibility and decarbonization;Solid technical skills on RES integration, storage integration and Energy System Integration;Solid technical skills on electrical grids design and operation;Solid technical skills on electrical grids markets;Solid technical skills on energy planning and modelling;Solid technical skills on industrial and electrical grid digitalisation and on development of data-driven energy services;Ability to write reports and scientific publications;Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Italian;Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to achieve assigned objectives;Skills in problem solving;Good communication and relational skills;Self-motivation and result orientation.Furthermore, the following elements will be positively evaluated:PhD in the fields related to this call;Good knowledge on industrial processes;Expertise on business models;Expertise on design of participatory and co-design methodology;Expertise on policy recommendations.EmploymentType of contract: fixed term contractWorking hours: full time (38 hours per week)Gross annual salary: about € 38.920 plus objectives achievements bonusStart date: preferably March 2026Duration: 24 months with the possibility to extend the contract depending on fundingWorkplace: Trento and Rovereto (Province of Trento, Italy)Benefits: flexi-time, company subsidised cafeteria or meal vouchers, internal car park, welcome office support for visa formalities, accommodation, supplementary pension and health funds, training courses, public transport, sports facilities, language course fees.
