Offer Description

The research activity will focus on the role of women in the formation of the public sphere and in political relations between civil and religious powers in modern Europe, with particular attention to their connections with the Atlantic Revolutions.
The research will examine forms of women’s participation in political life and in the circulation of ideas, information, and practices of political interaction, with particular reference to transnational networks and forms of informal diplomacy that developed between Europe and the Mediterranean.
A second area of investigation will concern the relationship between gender, censorship, and politics, examining the ways in which women confronted different forms of political and religious control and contributed to the circulation of dissent and the formation of political orientations.
