Engineering Supervisor

OverviewGlenair is a multinational company excelling in interconnections for avionics, aerospace, land and maritime applications. We are looking for an Engineering Supervisor who can contribute to the growth of the wiring department. ResponsibilitiesTo manage the department personnel during their design activities. Ensuring that specifications and deadlines are met. Identifying potential inefficiencies and suggesting possible improvements. Implementing the procedures applicable to the Department. Participating in the process of selecting and on-boarding new coworkers. To control and monitor the loading and flow of the work in the Design Engineering Department. To ensure appropriate checks are carried out on all designs prior to final release to customers or production. To ensure that the department works within the guidelines of the company quality procedures. To liaise with customers and all other departments providing technical assistance and advice required. Identify appropriate KPI’s for the department and individuals. To work efficiently and conscientiously with all personnel and to maintain a clean and safe working environment. To identify the training needs of the staff and make recommendations for appropriate training/development. Provide effective engineering material science support into both the design and engineering function and the production process environments. Any other reasonable engineering activity or investigation or design request. To become familiar with the detailed procedures associated with design processes outlined in the company procedures. To back up any information on local drives and ensure project and business data are stored on a central server. To record and keep all relevant emails in a file structure understandable by a third party. Check in and record any drawing/part data in the appropriate system and maintain the use of the correct part numbering systems. To use any change control system appropriate to the work. To maintain design and draft standards to applicable national or international systems and to work within the company approvals as appropriate. To maintain current knowledge of relevant engineering technologies, applications and manufacturing processes pertinent to the product range. To identify and report on value-added improvements to the design and production processes. To liaise with and provide support to all manufacturing departments, including the shop floor, in the implementation and commissioning of any product, including direct assembly, commissioning and/or test/inspection work as required, and provision of jig tools and fixtures. To attend vocational training, trade shows or other public events as directed. To support the sales, purchasing or operations staff in their relations with customers and/or suppliers as required (may include occasional travel). Training, experience and skillsTechnical bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar. 15 years of experience in a relevant engineering environment. 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role. Excellence in the use of personal computer and MS Office. Ability to draft reports and technical documents. Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks. Excellent communication skills. Ability to manage technical projects for product improvement and development of new products. Knowledge of the English language at C1 level minimum.
