Assistant Rector (Rome Villa) is a part‑time (20 hours per week), 6‑month position within the University of Notre Dame Rome Living Learning Community. The role assists the Rector in administering residential life, supporting initiatives at ND Rome, and ensuring a healthy, safe, and vibrant learning community. Responsibilities Professional – Participate in professional development and hall staff trainings; share duty rotations and notify the Rector of travel plans; participate in on‑call rotation during programs; attend weekly staff and supervisory meetings, and ND Rome staff meetings as required; collaborate with ND Rome staff and the broader community for activities and routine operations; intervene in emergencies following institutional policies. Minister – Serve as a visible and approachable presence outside duty hours to build relationships and foster community; assist in coordination of liturgies, prayer services, and programs enhancing spiritual life. Educator – Facilitate student integration into Italian culture and life; address disruptive behavior and enforce policies; implement community‑oriented events and activities in collaboration with fellow Rectors and ND Rome staff. Administrator – Assist in planning and execution of new student onboarding and Welcome Week; coordinate weekly meal plan; submit work orders for repairs; document incidents; assist with housing processes. Native or near‑native English proficiency; working knowledge of Italian. Experience living in Rome. Ability to legally work and live in Italy at time of application. Bachelor’s degree. Preferred Qualifications : Understanding of Catholic higher education mission. Demonstrated collaboration in higher education. Knowledge of student life issues. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to design and implement educational programming. Capacity to manage stress and maintain emotional stability. Strong communication skills, including public speaking. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency with technology (Microsoft Office, Gmail, etc.) and ability to learn new systems. Annual Salary: 12,200€ Schedule: Part‑time (20 hours per week) over 6 months; hours: evening duty (≈2‑3 times/week), administrative activities, student events.
