The role sits at the intersection of development, engineering, and commercial strategy—shaping site‑specific solutions, evaluating supplier options, and ensuring early‑phase project decisions are technically and economically sound. You will also help future‑prove the business by tracking emerging technologies and engaging on market design and regulatory topics.Key ResponsibilitiesEarly‑Stage Project DefinitionLead technical input into early‑stage site design, layout planning, and interconnection strategy in collaboration with development teamsGuide system sizing and configuration decisions that reflect site‑specific constraints and commercial objectivesTechno‑Commercial AnalysisDevelop technical assumptions for business case modelling (capex, opex, degradation, performance, warranties, etc.)Support procurement and vendor evaluation by assessing technologies for commercial and technical fitCoordinate with Finance and Strategy to ensure consistency of assumptions across the portfolioCross‑Functional Project Advancement to FNTPCollaborate with Procurement, Commercial, Finance, and Development teams to ensure readiness for FNTPProvide technical and commercial support in procurement strategy, supplier engagement, and contract alignmentSupport commercialization pathways including offtake structuring and financial model inputs for IC readinessActively track industry trends in battery chemistry, long‑duration storage, hybridisation, and control systemsTranslate these trends into practical inputs for project design, procurement, and commercial positioningIdentify where shifts in technology readiness may affect development timelines or cost assumptionsRegulatory & Grid EngagementSupport engagement with regulators, grid operators, and industry bodies to help shape market design and permitting frameworksProvide input to policy consultations or working groups to help align emerging rules with storage project realitiesDesign Governance & Delivery ReadinessContribute to internal design standards, layout templates, and evaluation toolsSupport smooth handover from development into execution, ensuring continuity of key design and commercial decisionsQualifications & Experience7+ years of experience in renewable energy or infrastructure, including 3‑5 years in battery storage, hybrid energy systems, or technical development rolesStrong knowledge of BESS design, commercialization, and permittingDemonstrated ability to apply technology trends to real‑world project planningExperience engaging with external regulators or market rulemakers is a plusStrong stakeholder management skills and ability to bridge technical and commercial teamsDegree in engineering, energy systems, or related technical discipline (Master's preferred)BenefitsPrivate Health InsurancePension PlanPaid Time OffWork From HomeTraining & DevelopmentPerformance BonusRestaurant TicketsLet’s build a better future together.
