Summary
The France-Merrick Performing Arts Center is seeking a motivated, ambitious, organized, outgoing, and dedicated performing arts professional to join the team at the Center as a part-time Staff Assistant.
Duties and Responsibilities
Staff Assistants will work very closely with the senior management at the Center to assist in various capacities including booking administration, basic accounting, and venue operations. Duties include:
- Answer all incoming telephone calls and maintain the automated attendant system;
- Provide direct administrative support to the President and Vice President;
- Support the sponsorship department by administrating the location for all sponsorship signage and programs;
- Work closely with the Marketing Department to provide operational support for various initiatives;
- Prepare paperwork for new hires, terminated employees, and other employment changes;
- Maintain union personnel files;
- Keep the office organized, stocked, and tidy;
- Assist in various accounting duties;
- Assist with the ticket donation program;
- Organize, scan, and file all financial settlements;
- Perform financial data entry for each engagement and event at the venue;
- Complete expense reports for the President and Vice President;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the President and Vice President.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- A 4-year undergraduate degree in arts or business is preferred, but not required.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common articles, contracts, and financial reports.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
- This position requires basic knowledge of budgeting and data entry. A solid understanding of basic accounting and spreadsheets is required.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
