Part of BW Group, BW ESS can leverage a global industry network, as well as decades of experience in energy infrastructure investment, delivery, and operation – and the scale and connections needed to move the needle in global energy storage.To find out more, visit: OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to support the delivery of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Italy. The ideal candidate will coordinate technical design, engineering activities, and on-site execution to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with Italian regulations and industry standards. The candidate will either have an electrical or civil engineering background but be willing to work across all aspects of the project.Key Responsibilities:Manage technical aspects of BESS projects from development through commissioning.Coordinate with EPC contractors, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.Review and validate engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation.Support permitting processes and ensure compliance with national grid codes and local regulations.Oversee site activities, including construction progress, quality control, and safety adherence.Provide technical input for procurement, risk assessments, and project planning.Serve as a key point of contact for technical queries from stakeholders.Qualifications & Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, Civil Engineering or related engineering field.Experience in renewable energy or energy storage projects (BESS experience preferred).Strong understanding of power systems, HV/MV equipment, and grid connection requirements or civil engineering.Proficiency in engineering documentation, project management tools, and site supervision.Fluent in Italian and proficient in English.An adaptable team player willing to work in a face paced environment.Be flexible in their approach to work and delivering projects.Our Culture:BW ESS culture and way of working is based on few clear foundations:talent density over team size,flexible people over fixed structures,context over control,results over processes,transparent and clear feedback.We move fast because our culture makes it possible — freedom empowers people to act quickly and decisively, while responsibility ensures those actions remain accountable and aligned with shared goals.
