Overview

In this role you will design and implement embedded software for Optical Line System components, primarily using MATLAB, C, and C++. You will lead device and hardware abstraction to interface with I2C, SPI, MDIO, and optical components, and drive control software for EDFA and Raman amplifiers. You’ll support ROADM and real-time network reconfiguration, develop firmware for optical pluggables, and contribute to topology modeling and modulation-technology testing. This is a hands-on engineering position at a leading telecom software/optics domain with a strong impact on network performance and resilience.

Responsabilità
  • Design and implement embedded software for Optical Line System components (MATLAB, C, C++)
  • Develop and maintain Device Abstraction and Hardware Abstraction Layers for protocols like I2C, SPI, MDIO, EEPROMs and optical components
  • Lead control software for EDFA and Raman amplifiers (APC, AGC, power balancing, alarms, safety)
  • Support ROADM and line system functionalities (spectrum allocation, path computation, flexgrid provisioning, real-time reconfiguration)
  • Create/optimize software for optical pluggables (CMIS/SFF, DDM/DOM, firmware upgrades, power regulation)
  • Contribute to optical topology modeling and impairment-aware routing
  • Apply coherent optical modulation knowledge (QPSK, DP-QPSK, QAM, FEC) to guide design and testing
  • Validate optical subsystem performance with instrumentation (OSAs, power meters, oscilloscopes, VA, switches, tuners)
Requisiti fondamentali
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field ( Electronics / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science / Telecommunications / Photonics / Optics / Applied Physics )
  • Minimum 5 years (engineer) / 8 years (senior) in embedded software, telecom software solutions, network element software, firmware, and Linux driver development
  • Hands-on expertise in at least two core domains among programming/system software, Linux device interfacing, hardware-interface protocols, optical line system technology, or optical pluggables software
  • Credential in Optical Line Systems (OLS) or Optical Pluggables
