Microfinanza is looking for a professional with academic training and experience in agricultural economics, rural economics or agroeconomics, with solid expertise in agricultural development and the sustainable management of natural resources. The position is part of new initiatives focused on rural finance and the strengthening of agricultural enterprises, particularly in the fruit-growing and horticultural sectors. The selected specialist will work with the team in conducting feasibility studies, designing new interventions, and managing the technical and financial components of ongoing activities. He/she will contribute to supporting agricultural investments, analyzing business models, and integrating climate-smart approaches. He/she will also be responsible for field monitoring, preparing narrative and financial reports, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures. The expert will be based in Northern Italy, with missions abroad in the Mediterranean region and Sub-Saharan Africa. Qualifications Degree or Master’s in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Sciences, Development Economics, Environmental Sciences or related disciplines. At least five to eight years of experience in the agricultural and rural sector, preferably with a focus on arboriculture, horticulture or agribusiness. Operational knowledge of agricultural production systems, fruit/vegetable value chains and sustainable soil and water management practices. Skills in analyzing the impacts of climate change on the agricultural sector and in defining adaptation and mitigation measures. Experience providing technical and economic support to MSMEs, cooperatives, or agricultural enterprises. Previous experience in MED countries or Sub-Saharan Africa. Knowledge of main rural finance instruments and innovative investment models for the agricultural sector. Excellent command of English and French, both written and spoken. Ability to work in teams and multicultural environments. Strong planning and work-management skills under pressure. Analytical precision, autonomy, initiative and attention to methodological rigor. Excellent writing skills (technical reports, project documents).
