OverviewAs a Senior Product Engineer on the Nodes team at n8n, you’ll help shape the foundation that powers every automation. Your main goal will be to enable n8n’s integration ecosystem to scale sustainably by building marketplace infrastructure and maintaining world-class core integrations that empower users and developers to automate anything.n8n is the open workflow orchestration platform built for the new era of AI. We’re backed by a fiercely inventive community and 500+ builder-approved integrations, changing how people bring systems together and scale ideas for impact.ResponsibilitiesBuild end-to-end features.Ship user-facing features across the stack (backend, frontend, UI / UX) that are reliable, scalable, and delightful.Create developer tooling and creator dashboards for community node authors.Implement marketplace capabilities such as search, discovery, verification, and payments.Elevate engineering quality and reliability.Drive down recurring bugs and increase unit, integration, and e2e test coverage.Improve system resilience through better error handling, observability, and performance.Proactively identify and address quality hotspots across the nodes codebase.Shape nodes infrastructure & technical strategy.Contribute to architecture decisions and patterns that scale across Core and Ecosystem teams.Introduce standards for APIs, data models, and service boundaries that keep velocity high.Partner with PMs and designers to balance speed, quality, and impact in a pragmatic way.Coach, collaborate, and uplift the team; share best practices and engineering craftsmanship.Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver meaningful user value.Champion knowledge sharing within the team and the broader community.RequirementsMust-havesFull-stack expertise (TypeScript / Node / Vue): strong proficiency building across backend and frontend to deliver end-to-end features.Familiar with n8n: you've built or tested workflows and understand how our nodes work.SaaS Product delivery: experience shipping features that solve real user problems and are driven by user impact.Experience building scalable backend architecture: understanding of APIs, data modeling, and patterns that keep systems reliable as they grow.Pragmatic prioritization: ability to balance speed, quality, and impact.Experience working in cross-functional teams: collaborate with PMs, designers, and stakeholders to align on outcomes.Hands-on testing & quality practices: write and maintain unit, integration, and e2e tests (e.g., Jest, Playwright) and bake quality into your workflow.Clear communication: explain technical decisions and trade-offs simply and transparently.Developing with user empathy: understand developer needs and end-user workflows for both n8n users and community developers.Nice-to-havesPerformance & observability experience: optimizing performance and using monitoring/alerting to keep systems healthy.Analytical mindset: using data to guide decisions and validate outcomes.Fast-moving product environments: comfortable iterating quickly in a user-centric SaaS setting.Feedback-driven development: gather and act on user feedback to refine features and UX.OSS contributor: contributions to open-source projects or maintained a small repo.Why join us?At n8n, your work will have direct impact on how we scale our integration ecosystem, launch a thriving templates marketplace, and keep our core nodes world-class.
