JDL Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a leading data centre developer as they look to expand their team with a Senior Contracts Manager in Milan.


Applicant must be based in Milan and speak both Italian & English fluently.


Responsibilities


  • Provide contract and commercial management on complex engineering projects and programmes from inception to completion, supporting internal delivery teams throughout
  • Draft, review and manage all contracts across data centre construction projects, including vendor, main contract, subcontract and consultant service agreements
  • Lead contract negotiations with vendors, main contractors, subcontractors and consultants to secure favourable terms, cost effectiveness and appropriate risk allocation
  • Develop project specific and portfolio wide contracting approaches
  • Prepare supporting contract and commercial documentation in line with procurement processes and timelines
  • Lead the identification, evaluation and recommendation of contract changes, variations and claims in line with change control processes
  • Administer contracts proactively, drafting and issuing all required notices and correspondence to maintain contractual and governance compliance
  • Provide monthly reporting visibility against each contract and project
  • Identify and evaluate contractual and project risks, developing mitigation strategies for review and approval
  • Develop and implement dispute avoidance strategies and lead the resolution of contract related disputes, claims and potential litigation alongside Legal
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, promoting conflict resolution and providing visibility of contractual performance
  • Work collaboratively with project management, finance, cost and commercial, procurement, governance and legal teams
  • Monitor change, contract and risk impacts on project forecast costs against budget, identifying cost reduction and performance improvement opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement of contract and commercial management systems and practices
  • Act as technical expert and provide strategic support to the Senior Director on contract and commercial matters


Requirements


  • 10+ years' relevant professional experience, including delivery of data centres or other complex engineering projects across the full project life cycle
  • Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Relevant professional qualification or chartered status
  • In depth expert knowledge of contract management, construction processes and commercial management
  • Experience with client side delivery of both pre and post contract commercial activities
  • Experience on global projects and within multicultural project teams
  • Experience developing and leveraging strategic relationships across the supply chain
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to collaborate across internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills
