If you are here, it is because you know that we are looking for a Senior Financial Controller .
indigo.ai is the leading platform in Italy for building next‑generation AI Agents that transform the way companies communicate with their customers. Since 2016, we’ve been helping enterprises in industries such as finance, insurance, utilities, retail, and e‑commerce to evolve their Customer Experience through conversational AI. We don’t just “sell software”: we enable a shift in how organizations interact with people, automating millions of conversations every year, reducing operational costs, improving conversion rates, and creating more personalized, scalable, and compliant customer journeys.
Backed by a recent €10 million investment from Azimut, we are on a mission to take this technology global. This is a unique opportunity to join a well‑funded, highly ambitious team and play a direct role in shaping the future of enterprise AI.
To make this happen, we are looking for a Senior Financial Controller to support our Head of Finance in building and scaling our finance function as we grow across products, markets and legal entities.
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Senior Financial Controller to own Indigo.ai’s full financial accounting function as we scale across products, markets and legal entities. This is a foundational role: you will be our first dedicated hire, working directly with the Head of Finance & Strategy and our external advisors to build the infrastructure that supports our growth. You will sit within the G&A team and report to the Head of Finance & Strategy, with the autonomy to design processes where none exist today. Your work will give the company reliable numbers, clean closings and healthy cash management, the backbone of every strategic decision. As the function matures, this role can grow into a leadership position within Finance, building and guiding a team of its own.
Key Responsibilities
- Controls and processes: design and strengthen financial processes and internal controls, with a bias toward automation and scalability.
- Financial controlling and reporting: own financial reporting across entities, products and markets, supporting the Head of Finance in analyzing deviations from budget, forecast and prior performance.
- Own treasury and cash flow management: cash positioning, working capital, short and mid‑term forecasting, bank relationships and payment execution.
- Manage statutory accounting and periodical balance sheet closings: coordinate with auditors and tax advisors, prepare statutory filings and ensure full compliance.
- Drive accounts receivable and credit management: own invoicing cycles, collections and reconciliation with CRM and contract data, working with Sales and Customer Success to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Lead the monthly close process: own the full close calendar in partnership with our accounting and tax advisor.
- Handle transfer pricing and inter‑company accounting across foreign legal entities, in partnership with local teams and advisors.
You will need
- 2-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles; we value candidates from Big 4 and/or high‑growth startups or scale‑ups.
- An entrepreneurial attitude: you won’t inherit a system, you’ll build one. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, sets up processes where none exist, and is energized by that challenge.
- Excellent command of Excel; we are pushing AI automation (i.e. Claude) in our financial flows, but Excel is still a must.
- Experience with an ERP or accounting software (e.g. Genya, NetSuite, or similar).
- Experience with or curiosity about BI and reporting tools (e.g. Metabase, Tableau); we’re building our data stack and you’ll be part of it.
- Familiarity with Italian GAAP.
- A great balance between attention to detail and pragmatism.
- Fluent Italian and working‑level English, written and verbal.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple deadlines, and escalate clearly when needed.
We will really like (but they are not required)
- Experience in foreign entities consolidation
- Familiarity with IFRS accounting principles
Our values
At indigo.ai we prize Vision (curiosity and courage to challenge the status quo), Connection (empathy, candor, and trust), Responsibility (ownership, reliability, and follow‑through), and Excellence (the habit of raising the bar and refining until it’s right). If you naturally think ahead, build strong relationships, take accountability, and obsess over the quality of what you deliver, we’re probably a great match.
