Scientific Editor (Volunteer, Remote)Lumen is a newly founded, independent non-profit Think Tank and research community operating across AI, technology, digital ecosystems, and emerging socio-technical systems. We are currently in a pre-launch phase , building the foundations of our research agenda, editorial standards, and publication strategy.We are seeking a Scientific Editor to support the Lead Researcher in the early stages of applied research development and academic publication.Role & ResponsibilitiesThe Scientific Editor will work closely with the Lead Researcher to:Support the identification and refinement of research questions and hypothesesContribute to the definition and validation of research methodologiesProvide editorial and structural guidance on research outputsSupport the selection of appropriate journals, conferences, or publication venuesEnsure clarity, coherence, and methodological rigor across research materialsHelp align research outputs with academic and applied research standardsThis role focuses on research design, positioning, and publication strategy , rather than copyediting alone.⚙️ Position DetailsType: Volunteer (non-profit)Location: Fully remoteTime commitment: ~8 hours per weekSchedule: Flexible and asynchronousStage: Founding / pre-launch phaseWho This Is ForThis role is well-suited for individuals with experience in:Academic or applied researchScientific editing or manuscript developmentResearch methodology and publication processesInterdisciplinary work across technology, AI, or digital systemsJoining Lumen at this stage means contributing directly to the intellectual structure, research quality, and editorial voice of a new institute, helping shape how research is designed, validated, and shared from day one.
