Application OverviewUniversity of Genoa (UNIGE) invites post‑doctoral researchers of any nationality to apply for the European Commission Marie Sklodowska‑Curie (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026. The University has been beneficiary of several MSCA‑PF in Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.The MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship is a funding scheme of the European Commission's Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme. It provides a competitive salary plus mobility and family allowances if applicable. The research projects will have a 2‑ or 3‑year duration.Ongoing ProjectThe project will focus on the design, development and validation of data‑driven methods based on deep architectures to address forecasting weather events. Particular attention will be paid to the challenging task of rain nowcasting.Tasks include: advancing deep learning architectures and paradigms to target the required forecasting performance, with particular attention to the accurate estimation of high intensity events and the robustness to increasing lead times, while taking the computation load under control.Exploring multi‑modal and data assimilation approaches to effectively learn from smaller datasets.Investigating models where not all training modalities are available or usable at inference time (e.g., the Learning Under Privileged Information paradigm).Using prior knowledge—especially related to the geographical morphology of the territory that may influence hidden factors—to guide and help the learning process (the causality paradigm is of particular interest).Research DomainMSCA domain: Information Science and Engineering (ENG)EligibilityMaximum of 8 years of postdoctoral research experience.Must not have resided or carried out main activities in Italy (for European Fellowship) or in the Third Country of the outgoing phase (for Global Fellowship) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the deadline.TimelineOpening foreseen on 10th April 2026; deadline for proposal submission on 9th September 2026.Additional SupportSpecial support for proposal writing and development will be provided.The University of Genoa will organize in May the fifth edition of the Masterclass Selected candidate researchers will have the opportunity to attend a 2‑days online intensive training and coaching course on how to write a successful proposal.The masterclass will take place in Spring 2026.#J-18808-Ljbffr
