Postdoctoral Associate in Just and Equitable Cities Cornell Mui Ho Center for Cities at Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art, and Planning invites applications for this full‑time, 12‑month postdoctoral position, part of the Center’s High Impact Initiative on Just and Equitable Cities. The position is headquartered on the Ithaca campus and requires in‑person work with up to 30% travel. Eligibility Applicants must have received their Ph.D. degree no earlier than September 1, 2018. Those who will complete all dissertation requirements before appointment (no later than July 1, 2026) are eligible. The completion date cannot be waived or extended. Responsibilities Conduct independent research related to informal settlements and equitable urban development. Teach one undergraduate or graduate course per year (subject to department needs) in the Department of City and Regional Planning or Architecture. Support the Center’s Just and Equitable Cities initiative, including project management, administration, and collaboration with faculty and external partners. Allocate 50% of time to personal research and teaching and 50% to Center activities. Travel nationally and internationally as needed (up to 30%). Qualifications Ph.D. in City Planning, Urban Studies, Urban Design, Architecture, Public Policy, Geography, or a related field (conferred no earlier than September 1, 2018). Strong background in quantitative/qualitative data collection, geospatial analysis, urban design, data visualization, and community engagement. Ability to lead research projects, manage budgets, and produce scholarship. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and willingness to teach at the undergraduate or graduate level. Salary and Benefits Starting salary is $65,000 per year (non‑negotiable), with a generous benefits package and up to $3,000 per year in research allowance.
