Job Description With this spirit we are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer required to work on Design/Certification and production support activities within the Engineering organization with a main focus on engine components (e.g. Heat exchanger Structures) designed using Additive technology (e.g. DMLM). The successful Engineer will be working within the Military Design Engineering section dedicated to Additive Design, taking end‑to‑end design responsibility of the component by coordinating all activities aimed to test/verify the design intent of the component as well as its certification and entry into service. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop a vast network across Avio Aero as well as GE Aviation, across several disciplines. You will be working with internal/external suppliers/functions (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, NDT specialists, Program) to make sure the produced part is always aligned to the design intent and to certification requirements. Essential responsibilities Capture system requirements flow‑down to component definition identifying relevant validation needs Issue technical documents relative to the component’s design according to engineering policies and procedures (drawings, presentations, and analysis reports) Contribute and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews Develop components and modules design to cost, performance, and life objectives Proactively support and coordinate activities with manufacturing departments and suppliers to implement product improvements (e.g., concurrent design cost‑out activities) Support source technological substantiation and non‑conformances assessment Support activities related to development findings, component performance, and investigations (test requests, test data post‑process, laboratory investigation) Qualifications/Requirements Masters Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university Knowledge of designing additive components preferably using DMLM technology Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Unigraphics NX) and CAE tools (e.g., Nastran, Ansys) Fundamental understanding of mechanical design (static strength of materials, dynamics, etc.) and of fluid mechanics and heat transfer Good interpersonal and communication skills. Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities Clear thinking, diligent approach, result oriented Fluent English and Italian both written and oral Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required Desired characteristics Knowledge of aeronautical aero‑engine components or modules technical requirements, design solutions, technologies Experience in cost and value engineering Previous experience in mechanical design of complex products and New Product Introduction process Experience on structure stress analysis Capable to work in a multicultural environment; preferable previous international experience Curiosity and passion for mechanical design Smart working and work life‑balance Avio Aero when possible promotes smart work in hybrid mode and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work‑life balance.
