Site Reliability Engineer Join Canonical, a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in breakthrough enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. We run hundreds of private cloud, Kubernetes clusters, and applications for customers across both physical and public cloud estates. We are hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to perfect enterprise infrastructure DevOps practices, leveraging a model‑driven approach and treating automation as a software engineering problem. The role will deploy and run OpenStack, Kubernetes, storage solutions, and open source applications, applying DevOps practices at scale. Responsibilities Deploy, run, and maintain OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source infrastructure on‑premises and in public clouds. Monitor and observe applications to anticipate potential issues, identify and address incidents, and enable product refinement. Write and maintain Python scripts and tools for automation, telemetry, and observability. Work across the entire stack from bare‑metal networking and kernel up to containers and open‑source applications. Collaborate with teams and customers to support mission‑critical services for a global customer base. Qualifications Degree in software engineering or computer science. Proficient in Python software development. Operational experience in Linux environments. Experience with Kubernetes deployment or operations. Excellent interpersonal skills – curiosity, flexibility, accountability. Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks. Bonus Skills Familiarity with OpenStack, public or private cloud deployment or operations. Benefits Global remote role with twice‑yearly in‑person team sprints.
