We’re seeking a Network Deploy Technician to join the growing infrastructure operations team. You will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of next-generation networks and to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network.You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing expansive capacity at the lowest possible cost. You’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.Responsibilities include scaling support of several data center locations and day-to-day capacity management. You will work closely with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers. You will leverage your experience supporting large-scale, enterprise-class networks and participate in network implementation and troubleshooting. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with regular peer and customer interaction, establishing and following best practices and refining operational procedures.Note: Amazon is not able to provide sponsorship now or in the future for these positions. Effective May 15, 2017, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region is restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens.Key job responsibilities Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projectsCollaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstaclesTroubleshoot networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including device configuration and low-level application interactionTravel up to 20% within geographical work area; some travel outside the traditional work area may be requested, including internationallyTroubleshoot cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cordsSpecify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking for new equipmentParticipate in the migration, basic configuration, and rollout of new or upgraded hardwareTravel within and outside of the regional work area is required. You must have a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license to travel within the regional work area as company transportation is not provided.Basic Qualifications High school or equivalent diploma1+ year of experience in IT roles such as: Computer Hardware Repair, Infrastructure Cabling, Network Deployment, Data Center Operations, or Technical Project ManagementPreferred Qualifications Data center experience and industry-standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+)Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipmentExperience with network troubleshooting tools (e.g., VFLs, OTDR, power meters)Understanding of infrastructure technologies including Routers, Switches, Load Balancers and FirewallsKnowledge of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
