OverviewThis opportunity is open for Austin, Cupertino and Seattle. The AWS Graviton Software team is seeking Software Engineers to optimize performance for AWS Graviton. Graviton delivers the best price/performance in AWS data centers and powers the majority of new EC2 capacity. You’ll drive performance optimization across open source projects, internal services, and customer applications, working on a range from Linux kernel development to C++/Rust debugging to assembly-level optimization. This is a unique opportunity to impact how software runs in AWS, while growing your technical breadth and depth.ResponsibilitiesPerformance Optimization & AnalysisEnhance architectures and algorithms for optimal performanceUse tools like Aperf, sysstat, sysctl, perf to identify bottlenecksMonitor and analyze processor, OS, and workload metricsOptimize software performance for AWS customers and AWS services (such as S3, Lambda, EMR, ElastiCache, RDS, etc.)Open Source DevelopmentContribute to Linux kernel improvementsContribute to various other open source projectsDevelop analysis frameworks and automation systemsTool(s) DevelopmentEnhance APerf (our open-source Rust-based performance tool)Create new performance analysis featuresBuild and maintain automation solutionsThe role offers opportunities to work on latest CPU technology while contributing to both AWS and the open source community.Day in the LifeHere at AWS, we embrace our differences. We pro-actively improve and upstream open source software, including Linux kernel, operating system, compilers, libraries, and applications. We help internal and external customers to troubleshoot and fix performance bottlenecks that prevent them from using Graviton. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market.
