Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo – and potentially humans in the longer run. We want you as a talented Senior CAD Designer to help us in our mission by modelling the physical architecture of our spacecraft.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild the CAD physical models of the vehicle and its sub‑systems on Siemens NX and contribute to the choices in terms of overall architecture, aeroshape, equipment accommodation, and main materials.Mature the CAD models by adjusting the architecture, accommodation, structure materials, and thicknesses based on the outcomes of the thermo‑mechanical computation loops and system trade‑offs.Collaborate closely with thermal and structural analysts, materials and manufacturing engineers to ensure compliance of the physical architecture with the mission environments and manufacturing constraints.Ensure configuration management of the CAD models.Manage the vehicle structure mass budget, aided by the CAD model, and track it in the overall system database.Contribute to co‑engineering sessions with other disciplines, sharing guidelines or orders of magnitude to converge on feasibility.Define volume allocations and clearance specifications towards the vehicle sub‑systems.Contribute to the improvement of CAD tools and processes.Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data.Provide technical documentation & drawings and participate in reviews of designed systems.Interact with space agencies and support flight certification of the vehicle.Contribute to the validation and verification of the requirements.QualificationsAdvanced degree in mechanical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering.Minimum of 7 years of experience as a CAD Design Engineer.Strong experience with Siemens NX CAD tool.Strong knowledge of aerospace vehicle design and associated challenges.Strong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.Good understanding of the spacecraft certification process.Experience in composite design is a plus.Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) is a plus.Fluent in English; German, French, and Italian are an asset.Skills and BehaviorsStrong oral and written communication skills.Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.Strong organization and prioritization of tasks.Positive and flexible attitude to get the job done.Demonstrates behaviours consistent with The Exploration Company’s core values: Vision, Mission, Teamwork, Integrity, and Excellence.Why You Should Join UsWe’re Agile – we make decisions fast while keeping our goals and systems in mind.We’re Open and Collaborative – we are transparent about risks and obstacles, enabling cooperation.We have a lot of Fun – we refuel our energy knowing we are democratizing space.
