Logistics Manager, Milan, Italy

The Construction Site Logistics Manager is responsible for all aspects of the logistics supply chain, the Receiving of Material, Stores management, development, and optimisation of site logistics solutions to meet the needs of the project. They will be required to manage the movement of people, goods, equipment at the construction site and control site facilities management.
Ensure early engagement with the project planner; the commercial managers procuring the works and the senior construction manager on the site.
Ensure that the construction team is fully aware of logistics activities in support of the build program.
Independently consolidate and analyse information from various sources to develop complex logistics plans.
Establish if required an off project staging area for intermediate deliveries.
The Receiving of Materials and the carrying out of SAP transactions (Goods receiving etc.)
Attends daily & weekly coordination & planning meetings.
Planning & Programming:
Use Lean principles for all planning.
Plan site set-up, with pre-con team and input from PM, to move labour, plant, and materials around site efficiently coupled with planning internal and external logistics routes through the project phases.
Ensure project sequencing is considered to optimise positioning.
Supply Chain Management:
~ Ensure that project has key involvement in the smooth operation of the supply chain both upstream and downstream.
Embrace a delivery-focussed culture.
Responsible for ensuring logistics activities are not a constraining factor on the program, where deemed unavoidable ensuring the issues are communicated in order that de-confliction can occur.
Ensuring the organisation’s safety policies are followed and enforce Mercury Safety ethos in all logistics activities.
Create, maintain, and update the Site Emergency Plan (including the Site Fire Plan) reporting to the appointed site fire officer.
Ensure that there is an effective method of communications both verbal and visual to include the utilisation of 2-way radio systems and all signage is accurate for information and communication.
Delivery Management:
~ Ensure there is an effective system in place (Datascope) to manage and control the sub-contractor and vendor inbound deliveries to the project.
Vehicle, Plant, Equipment, And Vertical Transport:
Ensure Project based equipment is inspected, maintained, and tested to agreed frequencies.
Implement and regularly utilise a competency test/checklist on plant handlers to ensure compliance with MER policy and EHS.
Maintain an asset register of all equipment in collaboration with Group Procedures & SOPs
Ensure that all Access Control and security measures are implemented and manged to protect the project and personnel from external inference.
Environmental:
Create, maintain, and regularly update the Site Waste Management Plan to ensure the safe and efficient removal of waste from the project.
Create, maintain, and regularly update the Project Commercial and Group materials management on the removal Scrap metals ferrous and nonferrous in accordance with SOP.
Problem Solving & Innovation:
Most assignments regularly require problem identification where analysis of situations or data are required to provide a solution.
Determine how to approach/solve problems where information comes from a variety of sources and may not be readily available.
Has responsibility for or gives significant input for hire, fire, discipline, and performance management.
Planning and Organizing
Directly related progressive experience with successful track record of ensuring that cost effective, quality goods and equipment are delivered on-time to meet business requirements.
Previous experience in Construction Operations.
Degree or tertiary qualification in related field or equivalent work experience.
Computer literate – Microsoft Office
Knowledge of international procurement, logistics and industry practices, laws, and regulations.
SAP Software System experience
