To support this priority, Amazon is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Site Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager to join our team. In this position, you will partner with the site‑level operations team to execute Amazon’s WHS policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and Kaizen events, you will lead continuous‑improvement initiatives that reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in Amazon’s processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our associates. In this role, you must build trust and confidence with cross‑functional operations teams and influence change through comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. You must communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and you will instruct and train operations leadership and site WHS professionals on Amazon’s EHS policies while assisting regional teams in adopting our safety standards at their sites. Your experience in safety programs and relevant safety, environmental, and ergonomic knowledge in an operations environment will be crucial. You will develop a team of safety managers and professionals at your designated site and create leadership‑development plans to help the team succeed. As a senior leader in WHS, you will also evaluate safety talent and select bench strength for current and future business needs. Responsibilities Act as SME of local/regional regulations and company WHS policy. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all Amazon Safety Policies. Measure site performance against published safety requirements and identify improvement plans for deficiencies. Ensure safety record‑keeping and data integrity; provide accurate reporting to Operations. Deliver on‑time, high‑quality projects to Operations. Deep‑dive into safety metrics, review weekly and monthly incident trends, justify resource allocation, and report action plans to senior leadership. Audit record‑keeping practices and global safety database entries for compliance. Audit workplace organization and associate behaviors to ensure training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent. Manage and mentor Safety Managers and Safety Associates on site. Engage Injury Prevention Specialists and site leadership to drive long‑term strategic actions for incident reduction. Perform targeted Kaizen events with Operations based on identified risks (force, repetition, awkward postures). Ensure leader and associate training on policy responsibilities and audit training quality and effectiveness. Review deployed safety tools for effectiveness and continuous improvement. Partner with corporate and regional field safety personnel to integrate global safety best practices into NA network standards. Additional Job Elements Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach. Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts. Work in environments with variable noise, temperatures, and weather (delivery stations, outside loading departments). Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs). Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site. Those that do not have adult First Aid, CPR, or AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain certification within 3 weeks of the start date. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations, or relevant experience applicable to the role. 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management. CPR/First Aid Certification. Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment. Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred. Certified Safety Professional preferred. Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic organization. Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation. Prior experience in a management development training program. Track record of effectively managing a safety operation comprising salaried and hourly staff. Demonstrated experience in developing others into higher levels of responsibility. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with Directors and VPs. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,700/year in our lowest market to $222,700/year in our highest market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
