Engineering Project Manager, Global Engineering Services

Overview Amazon is seeking an experienced and business oriented Engineering Project Manager to coordinate the planning, design and execution efforts of highly complex logistics process solutions for the continued expansion of our EU Customer Fulfilment network. Ideal candidates will have Engineering Program and Project Management experience combined with an established technical problem solving ability as well as Value Engineering experience. The role will understand all aspects of an Amazon Fulfilment Center while focusing on its automation technologies (conveyance sortation robotics) and storage solutions. This person will be responsible for planning, designing and delivering state‑of‑the‑art material handling systems and innovations while coordinating internal teams and external vendors in order to effectively execute Retrofits Initiatives and Expansions (REIs) in existing sites. Key Job Responsibilities End‑to‑end ownership for small to medium scale engineering projects (planning, design, installation, commissioning and qualification launch support). Dive deep on technical details and provide value engineering and innovative solutions to drive frugality and continuous improvements. Lead technical design reviews and propose design solutions for material handling and storage solutions that meet both business needs and global design standards. Create, submit and track relevant CAPEX requests (Capital Planning) to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and best overall value. Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams. Assist in providing equipment specifications and technical support to Procurement, Change Management and other business partners for best value and competition. Collaborate closely with various internal teams such as World Wide Engineering, Construction, Operations, Reliability, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement and Change Management. Support standardisation, qualification and launch of external fulfilment sites while closely collaborating with External Fulfilment (EF) business partners. A Day in the Life You will work on the delivery of one of our Amazon Fulfillment Centers with a project lifecycle of about a year as part of a high‑performing team. During the early project phases you will predominantly work in an Amazon office or from your home. During the execution you will typically spend 50% of your time at the project site with peaks throughout the year extending to most weekdays with full ownership during the last phases of project installation, commissioning & qualification and post‑launch ramp‑up. You will enjoy the rewarding experience to launch an Amazon Fulfillment Center or to upgrade an existing one. After initial months onboarding you will be progressively given important and extending responsibilities within the project and aside it by taking the lead on other business horizontal tasks. You will be constantly helped by the team which respects and leverages diverse points of view and focuses on inclusion of new members. Qualifications Master or Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related discipline. Proven Project/Program Management experience in comparable industrial environments. Advanced proficiency in English. Experience designing or implementing integrated automation solutions such as material handling systems, high‑speed packaging lines or manufacturing lines. Comprehensive understanding of operational as well as reliability and maintenance processes including relevant software tools. Experience using business or technical software like MS Excel, MS Project or CAD software. Preferred Qualifications French, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
