Lead Golang Software Engineer, Commercial SystemsCanonical is a leading provider of open‑source software and operating systems for global enterprise and technology markets. We are hiring a Lead Golang Software Engineer to work on critical commercial systems across several teams.Commercial Systems – TeamsBilling team – designs, develops and operates a Golang service that converts metrics into billable amounts, provides customers with real‑time spend visibility and integrates with payment systems.Contracts team – builds a single source of truth for all customer contracts, provides a CPQ capability and stores signed contracts in a structured format.Livepatch team – develops Golang‑based client and backend components for delivering Linux kernel patches, maintaining security between maintenance windows.LocationThis role is remote in the EMEA region.Role responsibilitiesDevelop engineering solutions leveraging Golang.Lead technical designs, code reviews and implementation.Deploy and operate services developed by the team.Coach, mentor and provide career development feedback to colleagues.Advocate and evangelise engineering and organisational best practices.Required qualificationsExceptional academic track record.Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling alternative narrative.Track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results.Experience with software development in Golang.Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.Result‑oriented and self‑motivated to meet commitments.Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.Nice‑to‑have skillsPerformance engineering and security experience.Experience with accounting, sales, sales operations or other business roles.What we offerDistributed work environment with twice‑yearly in‑person team sprints.Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.Annual compensation review.Recognition rewards.Annual holiday leave.Maternity and paternity leave.Employee Assistance Program.Opportunity to travel to new locations.Priority Pass and travel upgrades for long‑haul company events.About CanonicalCanonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.
