Senior Program Manager – Insurance IT Transformation

About the company: For an independent technology group and a leading provider of core software systems and digital transformation solutions for the European insurance market, we are looking for a Senior Program Manager IT to take end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-country insurance transformation programs. This role combines program governance, product mindset, and strong delivery execution, with full responsibility from requirements definition to deployment and production stabilization. The position operates in an international context, managing cross-functional technical teams and senior stakeholders across 6+ countries. About the role: The candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a specific line of business (Life Insurance) within a global, multi-year, multi-million insurance transformation program. The individual will operate as an executive delivery leader, ensuring the effective execution of assigned initiatives, the achievement of expected outcomes, and alignment with the overall program strategy. The position entails strong exposure to the client’s top management and constant interaction with the program’s central governance structures. Responsibilities: Country / Business Line Delivery Ownership: Lead the overall delivery of transformation initiatives related to the assigned country and/or line of business, ensuring consistency with the global program design. C-level Advisory (Local & Global): Act as a trusted advisor to executive-level stakeholders of the assigned country/business line, working closely with local top management and the central program to manage priorities, risks, and strategic decisions. Execution and Control: Oversee all delivery phases (planning, execution, go-live, and stabilization), ensuring adherence to milestones, budget, KPIs, and agreed quality standards. Governance and Risk Management: Own the governance models within the assigned scope, monitor initiative progress, and proactively manage risks, dependencies, and operational complexity in a cross-country environment. Leadership of Local and Distributed Teams: Lead multidisciplinary teams (delivery, IT, business) at local and international levels, ensuring alignment with the global program and effective collaboration across functions and countries. Requirements: Professional Experience: At least 15 years of experience in delivering complex programs within the insurance sector or specialized consulting firms. Proven track record in managing high-impact transformation initiatives with significant budgets and strong organizational complexity. Industry Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the Core Insurance landscape, insurance processes, enabling technologies, and key regulatory constraints. Executive Engagement: Demonstrated ability to interact with and influence executive-level stakeholders, both locally and within global programs. International Environment: Experience in multinational contexts, with the ability to operate effectively within structured programs and complex governance models. Location and Mobility: Work location: Milan Availability for international travel is required. Languages: Fluent Italian and English. Knowledge of French or German is considered a plus.
