We are looking to recruit a new member of staff in the office in Trieste as: Electrical Services Director PURPOSE: Electro-technical first point of contact shoreside for the ships assigned to their management. Supports onboard electrical operations regarding any electrical systems and equipment issues issue that may require a higher level of expertise in this specific field such as automation, electronic and electrical engineering. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide support to the Technical Superintendent(s) in their day to day activities for any electrical issue that may require a higher level of expertise in the specific field. Verify and approve ship's requisitions for spares, service and consumables within area of responsibility, issuing as well shoreside requests of materials and service. Assist the Vice President Electrical Services with planning both yearly and long-term maintenance budgets for the vessels, closely monitoring monthly progress of relevant expenses. Participate in planning and preparation, for the areas competence, dry-dock specifications, following ship's repair and maintenance during refit works, as applicable. Cooperate with the Vice President Electrical Services and Technical Superintendents for the preparation of plans for modification/updates, to be implemented on existing vessels due to new upcoming safety regulations. Maintain active involvement in structuring, implementing, and monitoring the company’s safety management systems within the area of assigned responsibilities. Participates in the company incident response plan. Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for position. Perform other job related functions as assigned. Travel to dry docs, on ships: 3 months a year. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree, Technical/Electrical Engineering degree or related field of study; or equivalent combination of experience and skills. Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering. Management experience preferred. Strong knowledge in safety and environmental protection policies with ability to effectively execute established regulations. Knowledge of maritime compliance codes and safety regulations. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Planning and organizational skills to manage ship electrical maintenance and dry-dockings. Ability to successfully manage projects within prescribed timelines and budget guidelines. Interpersonal and supervisory skills to manage electrical staff onboard effectively Good planning and organizational skills to manage ship maintenance and dockings independently. Trouble-shooting skills to identify issues and make recommendations. Ability to make safety and environmental standards a priority in daily decisions. Good verbal and written command of English sufficient to communicate clearly with internal and external partners. Ability to travel onboard according to business needs.
