We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accountant passionate about fintech and payments to join our Payment Institute, regulated by the Bank of Italy. As an Accountant at Scalapay , you will own end-to-end accounting operations for our regulated payment institution, working closely with the Finance Director to support monthly closings, reconciliations, and statutory reporting — ensuring accuracy and compliance at every step. Responsibilities Perform day-by-day accounting entries and review complex journal entries. Manage monthly reconciliations and work with other departments to support monthly closing activities. Analyze invoices and assist with payments and cash flow reporting. Book invoices and expenses and ensure accuracy of the provision of monthly data for management reporting. Support preparation of statutory financial statements and contribute to Group consolidated accounts. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accounting processes align with operational and regulatory requirements. Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in corporate accounting (ideally in financial services or payments). Solid understanding of Italian accounting standards and monthly closing processes. Preparation of financial statements (preferably from banks). Good communication skills in English (and Italian beneficial). Strong Excel skills; experience with NetSuite or similar ERPs a plus. Curiosity, proactivity, and ability to work in a fast-paced fintech environment. Big Four Audit background will be a plus.
