Senior Backend Developer Java

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with solid experience in Java to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of robust, scalable and high-performance server-side applications. Liability

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications in Java.
• Work with the front-end team to ensure seamless integration between server-side and client-side components.
• Implement and manage web services and RESTful APIs.
• Optimise application performance and ensure system reliability.
• Write clean, efficient and well-documented code.
• Take part in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
• Solve complex problems and debug existing applications.
• Manage the deployment and release of applications via CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements

• At least 5 years’ experience in developing backend applications in Java.
• In-depth knowledge of Spring (Spring Boot) and Hibernate.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and time-series databases (InfluxDB).
• Knowledge of GitLab for code version control and collaboration.
• Knowledge of the principles of object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good written and oral communication skills in Italian and English.

Plus

• Experience with microservices and cloud architectures on AWS.
• Knowledge of Docker.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience in development supported by AI agents (e.g. Claude Code).
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

What we offer

• Annual gross salary (AGS) of between 35,000 and 45,000 euros, to be determined on the basis of skills and experience.
• Permanent, full-time contract.

Place of work

Operational headquarters in Gazzaniga (BG), Via Caduti di Superga, 1. You will be required to work on-site at the company’s headquarters; remote working is not an option.
