HW Dev Engineer – Payload, Leo PAA Hardware – Rome, Italy Overview Amazon LEO is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. Responsibilities Own PCBA development from concept through production. Design and optimize different blocks of sub‑systems. Design high‑speed digital and/or RF circuitry in collaboration with various teams. Lead and review schematic capture and PCB layout. Optimize PCB stack‑up for performance and cost. Generate test plans/procedures based on high‑level requirement definition. Complete board bring‑up and perform test campaigns for different modules/sub‑systems. Design automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory test. Support transition of designs to production. About the team The payload antenna team is responsible for architecture, design, implementation, validation, qualification, and new product introduction to manufacturing for all satellite phased arrays. These antenna systems will meet performance requirements defined by the RF/modem team as well as environmental and reliability requirements defined by the mechanical team. The antenna team collaborates closely with all partner teams including silicon, power, mechanical, thermal, modem, RF/Coms system, and SW teams. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent. Experience with prototyping and implementation. 4+ years of industry experience in mixed signal PCBA design. 3+ years of experience using schematic tool (Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Cadence OrCad, or Altium Designer). 2+ years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi‑meters. 1+ year of experience in high‑speed digital design (SERDES, Ethernet, PCIe, etc.). Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent. 1+ year of experience with signal and/or power integrity. Compensation The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
