In this role, you will serve as the Technical Authority for a range of aeronautical products including Flight Control Actuators, Power Control Modules, Hydraulic Dampers and other advanced hydraulic and mechanical systems for both civil and defense aeronautical/aerospace applications.

You will work closely with Engineering Managers across Italy to ensure the availability of resources and technical expertise required to support critical business and customer activities. Partnering daily with cross-functional leaders, you will drive technical decisions, support operational excellence and provide guidance on complex engineering challenges.

Your responsibilities will include defining and managing activities related to field issues, product reliability investigations, obsolescence management, product sustainment and continuous improvement initiatives. You will lead technical investigations, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and ensure timely and effective resolution of customer concerns.

As Chair of the Product Safety Board for the assigned product portfolio, you will interface directly with customers, airworthiness authorities and Company leadership. You will coordinate resources and technical experts to conduct thorough product failure investigations and provide high-quality technical support both on customer sites and within Company facilities.

Leveraging Safran's global engineering network, you will collaborate with international experts across multiple sites to address complex technical challenges and promote best practices throughout the organization.

You will also contribute to the development of next-generation aeronautical/aerospace systems by providing technical direction during new product development activities, technology maturation programs and research initiatives. During the proposal and business acquisition phases, you will support the identification of enabling technologies, technical risks and innovation opportunities to ensure competitive and customer-focused solutions.

This position requires deep expertise in aeronautical/aerospace flight control systems, hydraulic technologies and product safety processes, together with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with the Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management and Customer Support teams across the Italian sites. Collaborate extensively with the global Company network, leveraging broad technical expertise through reviews and multidisciplinary technical forums.

Lead technical discussions and alignment meetings with customers regarding product support, reliability improvement initiatives, investigation outcomes and service-related activities.

Technical Leadership

Guide multidisciplinary engineering teams in the analysis and resolution of technical issues arising from customers, operations or product performance. Ensure appropriate expertise is engaged to drive robust and effective solutions while maintaining the highest standards of safety and airworthiness.

Specific experience on products such as: Primary Actuators, Hydraulic Systems and Complex/Integrated Systems in the Aeronautical/Aerospace sector is mandatory.

Provide leadership, coaching and technical guidance to engineering teams. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement while supporting professional growth and knowledge sharing.

Documentation and Reporting

Develop, review and approve technical documentation and customer deliverables, including Safety Reports, Service Bulletins, Engineering Change Proposals, Airworthiness documentation and executive-level technical reports.

Project Planning and Execution

Maintain accurate project plans, technical documentation and progress reporting. Provide regular status updates to management and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities, risks and milestones.

Continuous Improvement and Lessons Learned

Actively contribute to lessons learned initiatives, ensuring knowledge gained from projects and investigations is captured and incorporated into standards, processes and future product developments.

Skills required

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of design, development, verification and validation processes for aeronautical/aerospace systems and components.
  • Strong technical expertise in complex hydraulic, mechanical and actuation systems for aeronautical/aerospace applications.
  • Deep understanding of Flight Control Systems and associated technologies.
  • Solid experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex aeronautical/aerospace projects.
