About The business unit The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation, and transmission & distribution networks. We provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle—from concept and design to construction and operation, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Overview Of The Role The Energy Transition team within our Energy unit is looking for Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineers to strengthen the existing C&I team; providing advisory and design capabilities across a variety of power and energy projects types and technologies in a growing portfolio, supporting our clients in the UK and across Europe as part of the energy transition. Key Responsibilities And Duties Work on projects in a variety of stages of maturity, including Owner’s Engineer, Design Review, Feasibility Studies, FEED Studies and Detailed Design. There will be opportunities for site work during project development, construction and commissioning. Prepare C&I deliverables such as equipment specifications, control philosophies, calculations, equipment datasheets, loop drawings, cable block diagrams, general arrangement drawings, cable routing drawings, review P&IDs and other process information. Participate in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA). Coordinate C&I delivery on multi-disciplinary projects, interfacing with other disciplines, project engineer, project manager and customer. Develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs based on these solutions. Work with equipment vendors on developing designs of equipment packages and participate in technical evaluations of vendor designs. Support in developing proposals and bids for the C&I discipline and contribute to multi-disciplinary proposals. Provide technical leadership and governance. Candidate specification Essential A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject Chartered Engineer (or in the process of obtaining) and Member of relevant Engineering Institute Significant postgraduate experience in C&I technical delivery The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of C&I deliverables Ability to adapt and work on multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills Knowledge of design and construction of power and energy projects Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts as well as experienced in producing calculations Detailed working knowledge of national and international codes and standards used within the power and energy sector Experience of working with design software packages such as AutoCAD, Aveva, etc Knowledge of OEM control systems such as Siemens, ABB, Emerson, etc Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution Desirable Experience within Owner’s Engineer or technical advisory sector Equality, diversity, and inclusion We put equality, diversity, and inclusion at the heart of our business, seeking to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all.
