We operate in a fast-moving, tech-driven environment , and we’re looking for people who thrive in change, think boldly, and take initiative .#MakeItHappen #PlayAsATeam #StayCurious #FocusOnCustomer.We’re looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant passionate about fintech and payments to join our Payment Institute, regulated by the Bank of Italy.As an Junior Accountant at Scalapay , you will own end-to-end accounting operations for our regulated payment institution, working closely with the Finance Director to support monthly closings, reconciliations, and statutory reporting - ensuring accuracy and compliance at every step.ResponsibilitiesPerform day-by-day accounting entries and review complex journal entries.Manage monthly reconciliations and work with other departments to support monthly closing activities.Analyze invoices and assist with payments and cash flow reporting.Book invoices and expenses and ensure accuracy of the provision of monthly data for management reporting.Support preparation of statutory financial statements and contribute to Group consolidated accounts.Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accounting processes align with operational and regulatory requirements.RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent.1-3 years of experience in corporate accounting (ideally in financial services or payments).Solid understanding of Italian accounting standards and monthly closing processes.Preparation of financial statements (preferably from banks).Good communication skills in English (and Italian beneficial).Strong Excel skills; experience with NetSuite or similar ERPs a plus.Curiosity, proactivity, and ability to work in a fast-paced fintech environment.Big Four Audit background will be a plus.Why you’ll love working hereBe part of a rapidly scaling fintech that is shaping how Europe pays and gets paid.Work with a diverse, international team driven by ownership and impact.Ongoing learning opportunities, mentorship, and career growth.A hybrid work model with flexibility and collaboration.Competitive package and performance-linked rewards.Recruitment processInitial call with Talent Acquisition and Finance Director.Practical case or technical discussion with Senior Leadership.Final meeting with Scalapay's CEO.Want to learn more?
