Special Processes Engineer for Non Destructive Testing Job Description Summary At Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace company, we invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely. Responsibilities Develop and industrialize the Non‑Destructive testing process for aero‑engine components, including design of manufacturing sequence, work instructions, process parameters, and equipment selection. Design inspection methods, sampling plans, and process control methodologies, including applicable tests and coupon design. Support shop activities during process development: train operators on work instructions and tune the process. Identify, develop, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet near‑term and long‑range needs following a Flight Deck approach. Provide technical guidance, direction, training, and examination to engineers, specialists, technicians, and shop operators. Conduct Non‑Destructive testing for acceptance of parts and document results. Maintain internal process specifications updated to the latest standards and customer requirements. Perform internal / external audits to guarantee surveillance on accountable processes and verify Root‑Cause Corrective Action implementation plans. Be accountable for NADCAP audits on the specific processes. Provide technical consultation to cross‑functional teams to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues. Effectively communicate recommendations through analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers. Maintain an active role in developing and defining the state of the art in own technical specialty to anticipate, apply, adapt, or develop technologies for product introduction, quality, performance, cost improvements, and problem resolution. Qualifications Degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or High School Diploma with relevant work experience. NAS410/EN4179 level 3 certification or level 2 with strong experience on NDT (Ultrasonic or Eddy Current). Significant experience and knowledge on Non‑Destructive testing. Fluency in English and Italian. Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects. Ability to interface with customers for major issues. Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required. Desired Characteristics Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market, and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding, and capability of the business. Problem analysis and resolution skills. Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art in at least one technical specialty. NADCAP experience on task group or as a supplier.
