Offer Description

This position is part of the “MEDUSAH” project, which aims to engineer metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for the ultra-efficient and sustainable storage of hydrogen based on adsorption processes.
In this context, research activities will focus on the characterization and development of microporous materials with high specific surface area for reversible adsorption processes, with the ultimate goal of improving and/or surpassing the technologies currently used for the storage of energy-carrying gases.

Ph.D. in Physics or equivalent, already obtained or to be obtained within 6 months. Key requirements: experience in using volumetric techniques and Sievert-type equipment to measure adsorption isotherms over different pressure and temperature ranges; familiarity with the use of models for calculating/evaluating adsorption enthalpies in molecule/surface systems; familiarity with data analysis models such as Branauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) for evaluating the structural characteristics of materials (e.g., specific surface area, porosity); experience using experimental setups for the synthesis, via pyrolysis and activation procedures, of macro-, meso-, and nanostructured materials from organic precursors; fluency in English.
