Inside Plant Cabling Quality Assurance Engineer, DCC Communities, DCC Communities Job ID: | Amazon Data Services, Inc. AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep our customers’ cloud running. In this role you will collaborate with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply‑chain specialists, and operations teams to deliver the highest standards for safety, security, and cost efficiency. Key Job Responsibilities Drive world‑class quality in the data center to achieve best operating performance and lowest cost infrastructure in the world. Make quick decisions with limited data based on experience and subject‑matter knowledge. Focus on fiber‑optic and fiber‑optic components, cabling, and interconnect products; scope may expand to mechanical and electrical components later. Collaborate with engineering to establish Global Design Standards, Global Installation Best Practice Guidelines, and detailed Product Specifications for Inside Plant Cabling. Audit and inspect data center and edge sites, generate punch lists, report remediation plans, close defects, and recommend improvements. Conduct training sessions with local infrastructure delivery teams and operations organizations to ensure compliance with design standards and best practices. Communicate with technical teams and internal customers to gather requirements and describe technical designs and strategy. Identify and respond to risks and high‑priority issues rapidly and effectively. Support new product implementation activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost, and shorten installation time. Travel 40%+ locally to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS data centers. A Day in the Life As a member of the AWS Quality Team, you will visit our data centers to ensure standards are followed, collect lessons learned, and continuously improve structured cabling and installation standards. You will work directly with engineers, managers, and operations teams across AWS to develop and refine these standards. Basic Qualifications 1+ years of quality assurance engineering experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience directly related to design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure, or large‑scale mechanical and electrical plants. Compensation for this position ranges from $67,200 per year in the lowest geographic market to $150,300 per year in the highest market.
