Amazon is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join its Federal Tax Compliance and Reporting team. The Amazon tax department is a fast‑paced, team‑focused, and dynamic environment. This position will focus on Amazon’s domestic tax compliance and reporting obligations including preparation of federal income tax filings and the U.S. Federal elements of Amazon’s worldwide tax provision.Key job responsibilitiesPreparation and review of federal tax returns and audit‑ready workpapers including the U.S. reporting of foreign transactionsPreparation and review of tax adjustments for financial accounting for income taxes and maintenance of deferred tax positionsManage the analysis and documentation of tax implications of emerging business issues, technical tax positions taken, and integration of such positions into the compliance/reporting processDrive process improvements and coordinate with the Tax Technology team to facilitate streamlining and automationProject manage components of the U.S. federal income tax return, including participation in planning for and developing overall return calendar and coordination of timing and inputs with other tax team membersResearch and analyze tax planning ideas to determine impacts for U.S. income tax reporting and the federal elements of the worldwide tax provisionSupport IRS income tax audits by preparing responses and appropriate schedulesLiaise closely with members of Finance on accounting policy and members of the Federal Planning team for development of tax policyKeep up‑to‑date on tax law and the organizational impact of changesTrain and mentor team membersSupport cross‑functional tax initiatives including federal planning, controversy, state and local tax reporting, U.S. outbound and provisionExecute special projects as neededBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degreeKnowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced levelExperience working in a large public accounting firm or multi‑national corporate tax department4+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experiencePreferred QualificationsMaster’s degreeKnowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entriesOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
