Overview Sr. Software Development Engineer, Alexa Smart Properties. This is a hands-on role in the Alexa Enterprise Products team, focused on designing, building, and deploying scalable, enterprise-grade software solutions and guiding others through the full software development lifecycle. You will lead technical design, development, testing, deployment, and mentorship across teams, and influence architecture across the Alexa ecosystem and 3P devices. Key job responsibilities Lead the architecture, design, development and launch of core services and features used across multiple teams within Amazon and externally. Influence overall strategy by helping define features, drive system architecture, and establish best practices for a quality product. Demonstrate a track record of delivering new features and products and become a trusted technical leader. Collaborate with teams through strong communication with business and technical partners; create reliable, scalable, high-performance products with strong CS fundamentals and experience building large-scale distributed systems. Thrive in a hyper-growth environment with shifting priorities, delivering high-quality technology products/services. A day in the life Act as the technical leader responsible for design, development and operations; brainstorm, design forward-looking architectures with Principal Engineers and Senior Software Engineers. Architect, analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy software features; fix defects. Participate in sprint planning and daily scrum; identify blockers and navigate solutions. Mentor team members and collaborate with managers and other technical leaders to achieve technical consensus. Author documentation to communicate vision, proposals and designs. About the team Our team enables enterprise-scale deployment of Alexa-enabled devices at enterprise properties (e.g., hotels, hospitals). We develop core functionality that extends Alexa’s capabilities and deliver voice/graphical experiences for residents, acting as property assistants. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience 5+ years of programming experience in at least one programming language 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and existing systems Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
