About the roleWe are looking for a profile that lies at the intersection of industrial and service design. The designer will be part of the design team which cross-functionally works with Product Managers, Full stack Software Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Regulatory Specialists and Data Scientists to develop meaningful products that improve people’s lives and healthcare knowledge around the world. According to the seniority, the role might also deal directly with the management, given that Empatica has a relatively flat organisation which encourages proactivity and impact over formality. The designer will lead the investigational expansive phase, supporting the cross-functional teams with service designer tools and practices, being able to empower the contribution with a strong industrial design sensitivity and keep exploring the boundaries when the hardware comes into the game. Some examples: Work on a wide range of projects, from a service conceptualisation to proof of concept, from agile feature updates to brand new hardware products. Work proactively to generate user requirements, wireframes, scenarios, flowcharts, design prototypes, and design specifications, applying best practices and standards related to user experience and information architecture across all Empatica product ecosystem. Ensure industrial designs and user interfaces communicate consistent, effective experiences and are in alignment with the product strategy Building an Industrial Material Design System Coordinate with other senior designers and specialists HARD SKILLS Love what you do and have an opinion about things Have a strong design lead capability, combined with excellent execution skills and autonomy Have a degree in Design or a relevant field and/or post-graduate courses Have 6+ years of experience as a (Full stack) designer as well as a strong portfolio of related projects, including Service Design and Industrial Design projects Master the use of prototyping and production design tools related to both service and Industrial Design fields, like Figma, 3D modeling and rendering package (Cinema 4d, Redshift), Adobe Suite SOFT SKILLS Have a solid and ever-expanding knowledge base, also in other design-related fields Have a pragmatism well grounded in reality that helps you to parse complex data and information “to get to the point” quickly and effectively Have a get-things-done attitude, and done impeccably Have proficient communication skills in English (Italian not needed) Some important details: Empatica operates in an international environment with offices in Europe, the US, and Korea. All work is conducted in English.
