They will contribute to advancing knowledge on climate change impacts and adaptation, with a particular focus on food security, health, and related policy strategies.In addition, they will play an active role in the Institute’s broader work on environmental economics, climate adaptation, and climate governance—developing research, evaluating policy options, and engaging with stakeholders. EIEE stands at the intersection of environment and economics, evaluating sustainable and socially inclusive strategies to combat climate change and other major environmental challenges. EIEE is committed to improving environmental, energy, and natural resource decisions through impartial socio‑economic research and policy engagement. EIEE is a central hub for research insights and policy solutions, within Europe and internationally.RESPONSIBILITIESDeveloping research on the effects of climate change on food and nutritional security in Europe using a data‑driven approach.Assisting in the development and leveraging of research findings and stakeholder input to inform evidence‑based decision‑making on climate change adaptation on health.Preparing reports, briefings, and presentations to communicate research findings and policy analyses to policymakers, practitioners, and other stakeholders.REQUIREMENTSPhD in Applied Economics, or International Development, or other related social science subjects, including human health, development, environmental policy, or equivalent subjects.For the food security expert: Minimum of 25 years of professional experience working on climate change and food security.For the food security expert: Publication of relevant food security related indicators.For the climate adaptation/health experts: Minimum of 3 years of work experience on health systems and policies.Very good knowledge of the English language.Accuracy and good analytical skills.DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe positions will be based in Venice CMCC Office.The appointment period will vary from 2 to 12 months.Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience competitive with major research centers in Europe.Flexible working time as per internal policies.Support during the immigration process, if needed.Tax benefits for individuals relocating to Italy: Individuals of any nationality who move their residence to Italy may be eligible for substantial income tax reductions under the “Rientro dei Cervelli” (Return of Brains) scheme, available for up to five years.Collaborative environment: Work with global experts in climate, energy, and economic modeling.Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.Interviews will begin immediately after the opening of the job call and will continue until the positions are filled.PROTECTED CATEGORYBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).CMCC is an equal‑opportunity employer.
