Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks.From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.Key job responsibilitiesDefine CT systems architectures and specificationsDesign tradeoffs of various CT architectures including RF and performance simulation to support tradeoff decisionsDevelop integration & test Software & Firmware for lab verification measurements.Develop, maintain, and support customer terminal validation hardware and softwareProactive engagement with internal and external development partners on Systems’ hardware and software architectures and implementationEnsure delivered work meets technical, functional, performance, regulatory and business requirementsPerform in-field test and validation of various CT architecturesTraveling up to 20% of the time, depending on project phasesExport Control RequirementDue to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.A day in the lifeAs a Satellite Terminal Validation Engineer on the Leo Customer Terminal Team, you will work daily with electrical hardware, RF, antenna, silicon, and product design engineers, as well as software and operations teams in a collaborative environment. Your focus will be on architecting, integrating, and verifying customer terminal functional performance to ensure it delights our customers.About the teamThe Leo Customer Terminal team is responsible for developing both outdoor & indoor devices, enabling customers internet service via the Leo satellite network. We own the entire process from early prototypes through mass production including requirements documents, architecture definition, hardware development, and all integration/verification testing.Basic Qualifications3+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Matlab, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience3+ years of deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment experience3+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experienceExperience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in productionBS or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field3+ years in SW/HW development environment with at least 3 recent year in architectural/system role3+ years experience in development for complex telecommunication, high speed digital, antenna, and/or satellite communication systemsPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsExperience working with mobility satellite terminals such as maritime and aeronautical.Experience developing in LabView and MatlabExperience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customersMaster/PhD degree in Computer Science or Electrical EngineeringFamiliar with satellite communication theoryFamiliar with phased array designs and implementationsSatellite over-the-air Communication field-trial experienceDebugging skills for systems integration from RF front-end to basebandAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
