Engineering Operations Technician

The Engineering Technician will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The Data Center Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. This equipment supports mission‑critical servers and must maintain better than 99.99% uptime while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum.Engineering Technicians are Amazon’s front line when it comes to hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. They will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot Data Center Operations’ mission‑critical facilities, which includes stand‑by diesel generators and related fuel systems, as well as three‑phase electrical systems such as switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries and associated systems, CRAC, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical system, air handlers, pumps, and motors.ResponsibilitiesSupervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenancePerform limited maintenance tasks including filter changes, battery system PMs, and rack PDU & rack ATS replacementsPerform root cause analysis for operational issuesTroubleshoot facility and rack‑level eventsEnsure all personnel on‑site follow safety protocolsWork on‑call and a rotating schedule as neededTake daily operational readings and provide metrics reporting to senior engineersPerform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, and task prioritizationPhysical RequirementsAll physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodationsWalk job sites in uneven terrainWork at heights and from laddersRegularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlRegularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or moreCarry objects weighing up to 49 pounds for short distancesWork shifts longer than eight hours in durationRespond to off‑hour emergency callsMaintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladderCoordinate body movements when using tools or equipmentAWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The base pay for this position ranges from $59,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $133,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
