Project Manager

OverviewProject Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical. Remote role based in the AMERICAs and/or EMEA regions. This is a high-profile project management position overseeing coordination and delivery of Ubuntu images on devices including robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems. You will build and maintain relationships with team members, customers, partners/vendors (silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and Canonical departments/teams. Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Ubuntu is widely used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. ResponsibilitiesManage projects through their complete life cycle and ensure goals for Canonical and the client are met Deliver engineering professional services for assigned projects Collaborate with engineering teams on custom board enablement and delivery of Ubuntu images to customers Assist in developing project statements of work Draft and maintain project-specific schedules and plans Obtain client agreement to the project schedule and work items Ensure projects are delivered within time, resources, and scope Mitigate project risk and maintain risk management plans Drive technical issues to achieve delivery outcomes Maintain daily and weekly communication with the client and internal stakeholders Manage delivery schedule of critical third-party deliverables Keep management informed of project status Identify custom engineering requests outside existing contracts Advocate Canonical technologies to customers Support different time zones and non-traditional hours as required What we are looking for in youSolid project management experience delivering engineering services to customers and coordinating software development teams and field engineers Experience managing cross-cultural, multi-continent resources (Asia, Europe, Americas) Educational degree preferably in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math Good knowledge of Linux and the Open Source Software community; understanding of computer architecture Excellent verbal and written English communication skills Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities; experience building partnerships and working with demanding project sponsors PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 Practitioner Certification preferred Ability to work non-standard hours to support a worldwide team Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events What we offer colleaguesCompensation is based on location, experience, and performance.
