Software Development Manager, SmartCommerce SmartCommerce team located in Bangalore is looking for an Software Development Manager to deliver strategic goals for Amazon SmartCommerce suite of products This is an opportunity to join our mission to build tech solutions that empower sellers to delight the next billion customers. Our SDEs stay connected with customers through various mechanisms and are involved in the product thinking and strategy throughout. This allows our engineering team to significantly influence product roadmap, contribute to PRFAQs and create disproportionate impact through the tech they deliver. We pride ourselves in being able to keep overheads minimum and being able to be the most productive and agile one can be, ensuring we deliver the most impact to our customers.We operate like a start‑up within the Amazon ecosystem and have proven track record of delivering inventions that work globally. You will be challenged to look at the world through the eyes of our seller customers and think outside the box to build new tech solutions to make our Sellers successful. You will often find yourself building products and services that are new to Amazon and will have an opportunity to pioneer not just the technology components but the idea itself across other Amazon teams and markets.Key job responsibilities As a part of this role, you will:Build and manage a team of industry‑leading software engineersFoster career growth and a strong team cultureRecruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staffWork cross‑functionally, interfacing with internal customers to understand requirements, set priorities and communicate direction and progressOwn all operational metrics and support for your team’s softwareManage the agile development process and methodology to deliver incremental value to customersWork with product management to develop long‑term architectural and business strategyBasic Qualifications3+ years of engineering team management experience7+ years of engineering experience8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services experienceKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsExperience partnering with product or program management teamsExperience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systemsPreferred QualificationsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategyExperience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineersOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
