The Emergency Preparedness Platform (EPP 3.0) is UNICEF’s corporate digital solution designed to support preparedness analysis, planning and decision-making across headquarters, regional and country offices.

The platform integrates data from multiple UNICEF corporate systems and tools, providing a comprehensive and standardized approach to emergency preparedness planning, monitoring and reporting. EPP 3.0 strengthens organizational readiness by improving data accessibility, streamlining preparedness processes and supporting timely, risk-informed decision-making.

Following the global launch of the EPP 3.0 in July 2026, UNICEF continues to strengthen the platform by introducing new functionality, refining existing features and supporting users across headquarters, regional and country offices. This requires ongoing testing of new developments, validation of system functionality and calculations, documentation of issues and close collaboration with platform developers to support continuous improvements. The platform also requires user support, including responding to queries, supporting webinars and training activities, and contributing to guidance materials to facilitate effective use across the organization.

The purpose of this internship is to support the continuous improvement and effective use of EPP 3.0 through functional testing, issue documentation, user support and preparedness-related activities. The intern will contribute to platform quality by identifying bugs, validating new functionality, supporting the translation of user feedback into Product Backlog Items (PBIs), and assisting with testing and operational support to ensure the platform continues to meet UNICEF's preparedness needs.

As part of the Emergency Preparedness team, the intern will support the continuous improvement and effective use of the Emergency Preparedness Platform (EPP 3.0). Working closely with the Emergency Preparedness team and platform developers, the intern will contribute to platform testing, user support, issue documentation and preparedness-related activities. The scope of work will include the following:

• Platform testing
• Data validation
• Issue tracking and platform improvement
• User support and knowledge sharing
• Emergency preparedness support

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

• Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree programme or have graduated within the past two years.
• 6 months - 1 year of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or data validation (internship or academic project experience acceptable).
• Basic understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Ability to interpret data from multiple sources and identify inconsistencies.
• Clear and concise communication skills for reporting issues.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Language Requirements: Excellence in both written and spoken English is required and essential.

Desirables:

• Familiarity with integrated systems and data workflows is a plus.
• Exposure to issue-tracking tools such as Azure DevOps is desirable.
• Proficiency in any other UN languages is an asset (French, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese)
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
