Job Summary Vehicle Engineer position at Hitachi Rail S.p.A. located in Pistoia, Tuscany, Italy. Full time, not remote. Company Overview Hitachi Rail is a fully integrated global provider of rail solutions across rolling stock, signaling, service & maintenance, digital technology, and turnkey. Accountabilities Support and coordinate bid and project development of technical design of system Define conceptual solution of equipment integration on vehicles Prepare system requirement specifications of a mechanical system Analyze suppliers' technical proposals Check technical description of the system Verify drawings / documents (Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) for installation / integration on board Check FEM analysis report Analyze tolerance concept & integration Prepare / verify performance test specification Support during system type tests Support during the on‑board integration test Conduct design review with clients and suppliers Required Skills & Knowledge Degree in Mechanical Engineering At least 3 years experience in the railway or mechanical industry as Vehicle Engineer or mechanical integrator Good knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schemes, bolted and riveted connections Basic knowledge of electrics and mechanics Proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, etc.) Proficiency with mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, CATIA, etc.) and IBM DOORS Knowledge of engineering processes and railway operations Ability to work effectively with all organization levels and provide constructive ideas Readiness to work in a collaborative, fast‑paced, multitasking international environment Ability to work autonomously in teams and on projects Availability for short‑term national and international business trips Desired Skills & Knowledge Ability to manage & plan assigned tasks independently and work in a team Analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and business process analysis Ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders (suppliers, customers, partners) Planning & organizational skills Versatile learning aptitude, desire to stay updated on technology and industry practices Strong business acumen & technical skills Good communication & interpersonal skills Attitude for an international and multicultural environment Education & Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background. Languages Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory. English language knowledge at least International B2 level.
