Serco offers space capability across the full space lifecycle from satellite testing to launch services, LEOP to spacecraft operations, space surveillance to data management, and supporting downstream application development.We’re looking for a IT System Engineer-Service Delivery & Integration Lead, to reinforce the team in our Italy office You will be involved in integration activities and play a key role in our team working on Services related to Destination Earth (DestinE) initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to work on various aspects of Software System Engineering, including end-to-end service design, integration, evolution and project management.The Difference You Will Make? Whether you’re helping manage spacecraft operations, analysing mission data, or supporting software and systems development, your expertise will help move Europe’s space ambitions forward.Why Join Serco?Work in an international and diverse team environment, surrounded by top-tier scientists, engineers, and technical experts.Access continuous professional development and training opportunities tailored to the space sector.Be part of a company that values work-life balance, mutual respect, and a commitment to excellence.Gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies, innovative projects, and mission-critical systems in collaboration with major space agencies.Main ResponsibilitiesOverseeing service design and development activities, coordinating efforts among various internal and external stakeholders.Managing and coordinating integration activities for new services, ensuring their smooth and effective consolidation into our platform.Acting as a primary point of contact for external companies during service development and deployment phases, addressing their queries and providing necessary technical and coordination support.Technically facilitating collaboration between external companies and internal development teams for joint work.Supporting corrective and evolutive maintenance activities, assisting the follow-up of technical teams, performing troubleshooting, and conducting technical analysis to resolve issues.Your SkillsA Degree in Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Technical Sciences or equivalent is required.Proven experience in service integration and delivery.Working experience in project management, or leading software development teams.Working experience in software design and development.Strong understanding of cloud platforms.Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks.Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.Experience working with external vendors and cross-functional teams.Knowledge of Linux/Unix Operating System environment.Working experience in containerized applications (e.g. Docker).Capability of writing technical documentation.English Level B2 (Upper-Intermediate), written and spoken.DesirablesKnowledge of Agile and DevOps practices.Knowledge of containers orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes).Experience of System Engineering processes (e.g., ECSS standard).Working experience with Cloud infrastructure and pipeline deployment.Knowledge of Earth Observation satellite data product formats.Knowledge of Destination Earth (DestinE) programme.Critical thinking and self-organization skills.About SercoSerco is a leading Space Services Provider with thousands of skilled resources that has supported over 50 space missions on behalf of more than 10 Space or Government agencies around the globe, including the likes of ESA, CNES, EUMETSAT, EUSPA, ASI and NASA.
